Seven Seventeen Credit Union

Seven Seventeen Credit Union offers EIGHT $1,500 scholarships for post secondary education to graduating high school seniors who have an account at Seven Seventeen or are the legal dependent of a Seven Seventeen member, or are members of Seven Seventeen’s cha-chingsm Teen Club or the edgesm young adult program.

Four of the scholarships are awarded to seniors planning to attend a university located within Seven Seventeen’s service areas. ONE scholarship each will be awarded to a student planning to attend the University of Akron and ONE to a student planning to attend Youngstown State University. TWO scholarships will be awarded to students planning to attend Kent State University main campus or any other regional Kent State campus.

The recipient of these scholarships will be chosen by the Financial Aid Departments of the respective universities, based on the applicant’s grade point average, school and community involvement, and letters of recommendation. The university scholarships are non-renewable awards.

TWO cha-ching!sm Teen Club scholarships are available for any post secondary education – ie: any accredited university or trade school. These scholarship recipients will be chosen by a five member panel, which may include representatives from Seven Seventeen’s Senior Staff, Seven Seventeen’s Board of Directors, the Seven Seventeen Scholarship chairperson, and independent university representatives, none of which have a relative applying for this scholarship. Each application will be evaluated based on the student’s grade point average, school and community involvement, letters of recommendation, and a short essay question. Enrollment at the institution will be verified prior to awarding the scholarship. The cha-ching!sm scholarships are non-renewable.

Seven Seventeen also offers TWO $1,500 scholarships to Seven Seventeen members between the ages of 18 – 25, who are edgesm club members, and pursuing a post secondary education at any accredited trade school or university. edgesm members can apply for this scholarship each year they are pursuing a post secondary education. The recipient will be chosen by a five member panel whose composition will be similar to the cha-ching!sm scholarship review panel. Each application will be evaluated based on the student’s grade point average, school/community involvement, letters of recommendation, and an essay question. Enrollment at the institution will be verified prior to awarding the scholarship.

Each scholarship recipient can receive only one Seven Seventeen scholarship award, but qualifying high school seniors may apply for a university specific scholarship and a cha-ching!sm or edgesm club scholarship.
