Crestview is the 53rd member of the OVAC

Crestview Local Schools has been accepted into the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference as of 11/2/2016 by a vote of 52 to 1. We are in immediately. We have a two year transition process. We will participate fully in wrestling this year and baseball, softball and track this spring by meeting the league minimum number of games. The league wanted us,so that other schools north of the river, have additional scheduling options. We are great fit for schools from Steubenville and north which include, Beaver Local, East Liverpool, and Edison, etc.

The OVAC offers over $40,000 dollars a year in scholarships for athletics and academics. The schools earn a chance to play in a season tournament based on the points generated from the teams you play. Schools are put into categories based on enrollment. We are 3A which is in the middle of size. Beaver Local is 5A which is bigger school, but we can play any school in any category..We will still maintain our connection with Youngstown Area Schools too. For example, we play South Range still and many of the northern ITCL schools in many sports. The OVAC has minimum requirements for qualifying for their end of the season tournaments. All sports have a conference tournament except for football. In football and wrestling you only need 3 contests to meet your OVAC membership. In most other sports it is 6 contests against OVAC members.

Our students will now be in media markets from Trumbull County to the river; thus giving our student athletes a wider range of exposure. This is a positive for our school and community

We will hold a community town hall meeting on conference night, November 22, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the PAC. At that point, we will lay out our fall schedules for grades 7 - 12 for 2017. I think that you will see that traveling is very manageable. I know that in varsity football we have 6 home games in 2017 and 7 home football games in 2018.We will then post a link with our schedules to our webpage at Thanksgiving.

I wish to thank everyone for their cooperation on this transition . I have attached a link to the conference webpage for more information. For example, the conference offers a band show  and cheerleader competition too!
