Do you need a Helping Hand?

For years, we might have heard of Suicide Hotline as a community service. That service has now been expanded in Columbiana County, thanks to the United Way! If you have a a problem, a phone call may give you guidance toward a solution for a variety of difficulties.  Your problem might be grief, divorce, income, prescription needs or a family member with specialized needs. If you do not know where to go, then dial 211. Click the link for some ideas on services offered.

Crestview 8th Graders Attend YMCA Youth in Government in Columbus

Among 300 students across the state, eight 8th graders from Crestview Middle School participated in the YMCA Youth in Government Conference.  This was an ongoing project started in late September where students had to create a Bill to present to the student House of Representatives at the Ohio Statehouse.  This Bill was then presented November 25th & 26th to the committee in their delegation and chamber. Crestview was the only Columbiana County school that was in attendance.

The 2 groups representing Crestview each had a Bill- one was mandatory drug testing for the renewal of a driver’s license and the other was penalties for smoking/vaping around minors ( 18 and younger) , especially within a close proximity.  Both Bills passed on both levels with a large amount of support from their peers.

Students that participated were: Cayden Booth, Spencer Cline, Andrew Dattilio, Ethan Feezle, Jessica Norris, Bailey Wonner, Gianna Wycoff, and Selena Zuti.  Teachers who led the group by helping create, write, and present their Bills were Monica McDonough and Greg Woolman. We are proud of our students and very appreciative of the support of the teachers and families in this project!

ISEE Event a Success for Rebel Nation

Thank you to the Ohio Optometrics Association, Farmers National Bank, and School Nurse Janet Leipheimer for organizing the first annual  ISEE event. Over 60 students had vision screenings that demonstrated a possible need for glasses. All the students were then given a full detailed eye exam. If they needed glasses, they then qualified for two FREE pair. One pair for home and one for school.  There were no income restrictions or requirements to be eligible. The criteria was based on the exam.

Thank you again to everyone for making this program a success!
